Parson Fisher labored for several years carving the woodblocks for his 1833 book, Scripture Animals, the culmination of a life long fascination with the depiction of flora and fauna.
i have just come across a set of first edition, numbered woodcuts by Jonathan Fisher and am wondering about their value..the whale above is among them. They are "deluxe numbered limited edition #370". Ther4e is an accompanying letter verifying authenticity. Each print is embossed....does anyone have any idea about their value and how to go about selling them?
The Jonathan Fisher House in Blue Hill, Maine was built and designed in 1814 by the Reverend Jonathan Fisher. A Harvard graduate, he was a true product of the age of reason, versatile in art, mathematics, cabinetmaking, surveying, writing, farming, and more. In the homestead, now operated as a museum, one can see the life works of this most intriguing figure from the early years of the United States
